With so many items needing thought in the Kitchen Plan, the choice of handles is often overlooked and ends up being a rushed choice.
Considering that the average Kitchen has approximately 30 - 40 Handles which will be touched more than the doors themselves, it is a very important choice. Basically Handles should be considered firstly for their practicality and secondly their aesthetics. Delicate brass knobs may suit your Solid timber ornate doors, but of no use to a person with arthritis who has trouble grasping. Also not suitable for men with large hands. A cheap looking handle can cheapen the look of the entire kitchen, however a good handle can add value to plainer, cheaper door.
Knobs (available in many sizes), are however less obtrusive on a door that has a lot of detail.
Pull Handles such as "Bow" or "D" are a more modern look and can become the feature on an otherwise simple door.
Don't forget that each of these types, incorporate decorative lighting. There are many interesting light fittings available now, along with many different types of bulbs, which can also change the entire mood of your room.

MIX 'N' MATCH It is not necessary to have all the handles the same. Many designs now incorporate a variety of sizes in the handles - eg short on the doors and long on the Drawers. You can also use a combination of Knobs and Handles to keep the theme going.
