Where Do I Start ?

As one of the most important rooms in the house, this Kitchen should have the correct proportion of time and money spent on it. The Renovation process should be a pleasurable and enjoyable experience so pull up a chair , make a coffee and start to enjoy it.

Firstly we suggest you go though our questionnaire ( which can be downloaded) to start the ball rolling. This will make you think of all the aspects of your Kitchen Design that need to be considered.

Probably the most important question is BUDGET refer to Budget & planning page. As most of us have "champagne taste on beer budgets" we really must set a limit and try to adhere to it. There is no point being unrealistic in our dreams and then being disappointed when it comes to the end result.

There is no harm in having a "wish" list and perhaps your designer can incorporate some of these items and reduce the costs somewhere else. By deciding on your budget your Designer will be able to work within it and not produce something you can not afford.

Research

NOW THE FUN BIT…. Get out all those magazines you have been drooling over for years and flag the things that appeal to you ( also things you really dislike). Your Kitchen should reflect your tastes and style, so by doing this you can show your designer what your tastes are. Don't worry if you are not sure on what the products are, the designer will be able to recognize or find out for you. The internet is also a mine of information in all aspects (just remember to note the site you were on to tell your designer)

Discuss with your family what they want in the new kitchen … you may be surprised what input the kids may have (plus some bright ideas). Everyone that uses the kitchen should be included in the planning.

The next thing to do is contact a Kitchen Designer

Make up a "mood" board to show your designer - cut out pictures and gather samples of colour swatches (paint), materials, fabrics, laminates etc that you like and stick them on a board. This may become a piece of art in your home!
